I am Sambita – writer, poet, artist, youtuber, art & craft teacher for adults and children.
My journey with art started when I was just 5 years old. As I started going to art classes along with music and dance lessons, it became clear at a very young age that art was a gift and passion for me. I seriously pursued this passion by doing my Diploma in Fine Arts along with my Bachelors in History. I started teaching children to draw and worked as an art teacher for 8 years in Kolkata, India.
I draw inspiration and think of Satyajit Ray as my role model. He was a well known screen writer, music composer and graphic illustrator.
This led me to writing my very first book in Bengali with my own illustrations. I formed my body of work around my passions and gifts. After I completed my Masters in History, with the nudge of my friends, I went on to publish the book “Goyenda Richik”. It is a children’s detective story. My art and writing journey continued when I came to Netherlands after my marriage. I took a step back when I became a mother, being busy with my son. But the true artist in me needed to continue the calling of being a creator. I continued Sambita’s Art and Craft youtube channel giving lessons through my DIY videos and expanded by starting Holiday camps for children in The Hague. I started adult art lessons and went on to create handicrafts.
